System Preactor w firmie Opolgraf S.A.
Preactor (advanced planning and production scheduling system) was chosen by Opolgraf S.A. at the beginning of March 2006 to help in scheduling complex book printing process.
Opolgraf S.A. is a book printing and binding company located in Opole, Poland, which employs 145 people, with approximately 5 million books under 1 200 titles produced yearly. Opolgraf S.A. is acknowledged as one of the best companies of like capabilities in the country. The co-operation with the biggest and well known publishers in Poland proves that Opolgraf S.A. is ready to fulfil the most stringent criteria they set up. Flexibility, openness, reliability, delivery-on-time and immediate communication with customers are Opolgraf's strengths and targets of continuous improvement policy.
Jerzy Nagórski, CEO of Opolgraf S.A., describes why he selected Preactor: "It offers unrivalled functionalities, flexibility and friendly user interface while enabling planning capabilities, which can handle very complex scheduling tasks. Let's imagine an endeavor of the complexity of having to schedule 100 book production cycles to be run simultaneously, each being in one of approximately 60 various fabrication phases, taking into account the number of 30 machines used, with up to 30 people per shift, 24 hour, 6 or 7 days a week operation. A number of likely combinations can terrify the most skillful crew. What I can achieve now is my ability to answer a customer to his question on when he is likely to receive a given book from the moment he'd have provided me with his file while taking all variables into account (paper availability or customer blueprints' approval phases, for instance). Believe me or not: Preactor can handle such a job in minutes. It's really outstanding capability. Also, it provides very important feature: it allows to inject, modify or delete any operation phase manually if there is no clear rule available since it doesn't necessarily have to do the whole job automatically"
Jerzy Nagórski also commented on implementation process: "Perhaps, there has been a similar success achieved elsewhere but let me guess we won a "world record" in Preactor short implementation duration. Imagine one and a half month from launching the project up to the "ribbon cut ceremony" when I was able to use the Preactor for the first time during my staff meeting. I pay tribute to Prętczyński company, especially to Mr. Michał Prętczyński, for his outstanding capabilities, skills and effectiveness. My team was also outstanding, and it was a second key to success since we were the ones to feed Prętczyńskis with on-the-process knowledge. The crucial factor has been the integration between Preactor and our own system that is to export, in digestible format, all the data pertaining to particular processes, machines and other resources. Congratulations to both parties. Encouraged by this spectacular success, we started immediately with the next, unpredictable phase of implementation, which is a sort of closed loop architecture in terms of automatically feeding the Preactor with an on-line data on all the production phases."
Preactor FCS200 version was chosen by Opolgraf S.A. and implementation was carried out together with Prętczyński sp. z o.o. - Preactor Network Partner which supports Preactor systems in Poland.
For companies who require greater control of their operations, increased customer service while reducing costs, Preactor is a PC based scheduling system that provides the planner with an interactive decision support tool that balances demand and capacity. Unlike spreadsheets, wall boards and MRP software, Preactor can deal with the complexities of a wide range of application and has been installed in more than 1 600 companies located in 51 countries.
